Learning to Write

Learning to write is difficult. Despite the evidence, there’s no way to leapfrog or bum-lick or schmooze your way into being a writer. Yeah, you can get published and do stuff that way, but it doesn’t make you a writer. In the end there’s just you, trying to learn to write and hoping to get better. And that takes years of practice, and it’s never-ending. When you see others being boastful, smug or chasing after other people’s coat tails – just remember that, if they really could write, they’d be preserving all that energy for actually getting on with it.
